Kian and coaches travelled down to Bend Oregon this last weekend to compete in the youth nationals event. There were 3 days of competition where everyone would compete on day 1 in their division. To advance to day 2 competitors would need to be in the top 20 of their division by the end of day 1. Kian came out strong and topped the first two boulders. The next two were more challenging and Kian was unable to top them out. Kian took 26th on day 1 which meant his road came to an end. What a road it has been though! We are so proud of Kian and how far he has come. The same goes for the whole team! It is amazing to watch all these young athletes progress each and every day. We are looking forward to the next season in the youth bouldering circuit. But, now we move on to roped climbing with out first competition on March 23rd over in Everett.
Riverfront Rock Gym sent 3 competitors to Divisionals the weekend of January 12th. Quinten Koch, Shane Moser and Kian Korfiatis all competed in Tigard, Oregon over the weekend. All three had good showings and did some pretty amazing climbing! Quinten and Shane both missed the cut for Nationals. But we are proud to say that Kian qualified! Nationals will be held in Bend, Oregon on the weekend of February 8th until February 10th. Kian will have to make it through some tough competition each day in order to advance to the next day. We are all so proud of these young climbers and what they have been able to achieve in their short time as a team. Thanks to all the parents and to the coaches who make this all possible. Best of luck Kian!
